Caden's Duck!

Tonight Caden and I went out for an evening duck hunt. He was fantastic...even though there were not many ducks flying. Except for one....and we didn't let him get away. So I blast this duck..but that is really where the story begins.

Here goes in a nutshell. I loaned my waders to the hunters that we have in Groom this weekend. So all I had was an old pair. I haven't worn them in years. Well the duck was way out in the water. I knew I had to go get it or Caden would be devistated. I started out across and instantly knew something was wrong. The waders not only had one hole in them...but more like one hundred. By the time I got to the duck I was in waste deep water...and most of it was pouring through the waders like crazy. I was soaked....and freezing. Caden...he didn't care. He was so fired up about the duck that he forgot about me. I literally went home with no socks on and barefoot. Let me tell ya...not much fun opening and closing the gate in the country barefoot. However it was all worth it. Caden was thrilled..and was such a good hunter tonight. I bet I fed him a dozen brownies. It is amazing how quite that keeps a kid. Here are the pictures.
You think that he was excited?

I'm thinking duck for Christmas dinner. Just like the movie "A Christmas Story" minus the Chinese carolers. Fa-rah-rah-rah-rah, rah- rah-rah-rah!

Yeah...he was telling me the whole way home that he wanted to eat the duck for dinner...but he changed his mind when I offered hot dogs!
